Hi.

I recently purchased an ETC Express 125. It boot's and gives me this message

"Express boot vsn 1.02 lighting control console by electronic theatre controls copyright 1993-1996 etc"

After maybe 10 seconds I can hear a relay clicking and then it shuts down. Is this normal ? Is the OS gone or what is going on ? Is it the "cmos" battery ? I don't know can you please please help me !

Thank you very much.

Sounds very broken. I'd give ETC tech support a call at 1-800-688-4116, they'll probably be able to sort you out.

Good luck, and let us know what the problem was once you get it back up and running.

It's supposed to boot without anything plugged in to it correct ? Because I've only got the crt plugged in to it. No dmx lights floppy or anything..

Yes, it should boot. Are you sure you don't have a floppy in the drive? The clicking sounds like the drive trying to read a disk.

Call ETC: (800) 688-4116

Though wait until Monday unless this is an emergency...they do have someone on call 24/7.

Do you have a local ETC dealer? They'll be able to arrange service, or be able to make the repairs themselves.

Good luck.

You should be able to boot it with the DMX cable plugged in. If there is a floppy in it, take the floppy out. Give ETC a call on Monday, they'll be able to talk you through troubleshooting the problem.

Good luck!

As has been said, call ETC and they will help you figure out if it's something simple or if it needs major repair. Where do you live?

We can probably help you find an ETC repair shop if you need that help.

Correct. The Express needs nothing else attached to boot properly. The floppy drive is just for show data storage (or in rare cases for an OS software update/restore).

[Edit: The following should only be attempted as a last resort, and only if one has a known-good back-up of important show data. However, since the board is new to the user, and is currently non-functioning...]
<contact ETC for exact procedure>

If the same symptoms persist, the OS may be corrupt. Download the system software from http://www.etcconnect.com/docs/docs_downloads/console/Express311.zip, put the file "e2.bin" uncompressed onto a freshly formatted floppy, insert the floppy into the drive, and turn on the console.

If the same symptoms occur, it's time to call ETC Tech Support, and likely that your board will soon be visiting mecca (Middleton, WI), or other authorized service center.

Good luck.

Ok pressing the 7 8 9 buttons at startup does nothing and when i got a floppy in the the console just clicks away.. nothing happens other than a bunch a clicking..

jsmm,

This sounds like a power supply issue. The console will try to read a disk as it boots (the clicking) which takes the most power. If you have another power supply, try using that with your console. If that doesn't work, as has been said many times above, call us at 800-688-4116.

So jsmm, did you get it working?
