elation led par issue

I'm using 9 Elation opti-tri pars on one dmx daisy chain. The middle unit is false firing, causing it to flash sporadically.
No amount of different cable configurations solves the issue, so the problem doesn't reside in the cables. It m must be an internal issue, any advice on how to fix it would be appreciated.

Few things I know everybody allways asks this when there is a DMX question but is the line terminated... are you sure you have the right DMX address set and do the fixtures have a sound active mode if so make sure it is turned off on all of them.

Try swapping two addresses to rule out programming anomalies. And/Or: Try moving the unit to a different location in the chain. Does the problem follow the location, address, or unit?

The problem follows the unit as far as I can tell. As we work events, the unit gets moved around a lot in different configurations.

That unit may also be borderline on grabbing the data frame. Try a lower frame rate on the board. DFD also makes a frame smoothing device which tends to calm borderline fixtures. As mentioned above, double-check that the unit is not set up for some non-standard mode. Also, take a close look at the thread Derek linked above. (the whole thread)
