ETC ION Flashdrive

Hi,
This might seem like a really stupid question or I am just missing the obvious. I am trying to update my ETC ION and the board won't recognize my flash drive which has the newest software version on it. The file is in the root directory not in a folder. Thoughts?

If an older Ion, I have seen where some brands of thumb drives cannot be read by the top drive slot. I have no luck with HP or Microcenter drives as example, but am lucky with Sandisk and Kingston brand.

You can also try a rear drive slot, which I have no issues with, but now-a-days I just use brands I know work.

I think this is a mother board issue, but found a work-around with the different brands.

Its actually a driver issue, some of the cheaper USB sticks use a non standard driver, (because they didn't want to pay for licensing) which the ion wasn't shipped with.

If the drive doesn't work in other USB ports either, then it could be the drive itself. I would try this drive in other ports as well as other drives if you are able.

One more thing; check the drive's format: EOS doesn't always like NTFS. If it is in that format, reformat it as FAT32 and you should be good to go.
