ION and MSC from Qlab 3 HELP QUICK

Hello I am in currently a bit of a tight spot.

I am trying to trigger my light Q's in an ETC ION via MSC messages in Qlab 3. I have done everything just about every manual says to do in terms of device ID, Shocwontrol setup in the console, and making sure that the MSC cue in Qlab is set to trigger GO and its target light cue on the console.

I am using an M-Audio UNO to go from my laptop directly into the back of my ION.

Please, any help is welcome.

Can you post a picture of your ION settings and your Qlab settings? Maybe one of us can spot something that needs to be adjusted. I would also double check to make sure you have the MIDI cable patched correctly; more than once I have seen people cross-plug MIDI cables.

Best,
John

When you run your Go command does it pass thru the Midi Uno? the out light flashes bright once and quick. If it doesn't flash then Qlab isn't recognizing the Uno.

Do you have the latest drivers for the cable?

What midi commands have you tried to pass thru. Most consoles only use a select few. Starting with program change.

But yeah some pictures would be great.

In the settings tab in QLab, the Q Number field is the number of the cue that you want to trigger on the ION. I normally go the other way, ION triggering QLab, so I am not sure if you need to include the Q List number or not; I would enter it just to be safe. I would probably also change the Command Format in the settings tab to "Lighting (General)". Again it may not make a difference, but I am just throwing ideas out. Also, again, verify that the MIDI Out cable is plugged in to the MIDI In on the ION. I have seen people struggle with this type of thing for far too long when a simple verification that the gozouta is plugged in to the right gozinta solves the problem.

Good Luck,
John

My Midid cable is going to the Midi in and Midi out. I see what you mean in the program changes, but an not sure what i need to put in the Byte 1 and 2 sections.

I'm not familiar with Qlab triggering an Ion so idk what command is going to do what. The ion should have a list of what midi commands trigger what in the manual.

I just ran upstairs to a dark theatre and tested this. Please see the attached images for a verified working set up and let me know if you have any other questions.
