Outdoor Rated Right Arm

Will they be used regardless of the weather?
There is an outdoor summer stock theatre that uses a couple Right Arms. Obviously, the show doesn't happen in inclement weather, so that makes a difference in them being used outdoors. When they are not being used, a heavy duty garbage bag is tied around the Right Arm and fixture to protect from rain and such. There was one incident that they somehow got rained on (unexpected storm or didn't get covered, I don't remember) and there was a bit of water damaged. Water pooled in the horizontal chassis and damaged the end detect board, but nothing else was harmed. Some holes were drilled in the bottom of the horizontal chassis to allow water to drain, should it happen again. That being said, unless this is something that will be operating regardless of weather, the Right Arm may still work.

I have never seen one. Nor can find anything online. From the looks of the design you could modify it by cutting your own gasket out of gasket material bought at any box store.

Unfortunately, they'll be on a more permanent install basis, and used regardless of weather. We've been looking into some heavy industrial suppliers, but those are slow, and cost an arm and a leg. Personally, I'm pushing for a domed mover, or possible one of the SGM IP65 fixtures.

The SGMs are nice but man are they expensive.

Can you make a watertight plexiglass box big enough to fit over the Right Arm, roomy enough for it to move around inside, and use it through the plexi without distorting the light?

Possible. I was thrown the technical problem, without any of the underlying goals, so I'm still trying to pump out good solutions without any idea how they're actually being used. Everyday is a new one, eh?

It seems to me that there are plenty of IP65 rated LED wash fixtures on the market that are designed for outdoor lighting. It might be worth compromising the design to use a fixture that exists rather than the ongoing maintenance headache that this crazy idea seems to want. YMMV

The igloos are nice but doesn't protect against moisture as its not completely sealed. So hot muggy days will ruin whatever is inside pretty quickly and with what looks to be an air intake off the bottom so as to keep the fixture inside cool will suck in whatever is outside.
