Automated Fixtures Rogue R2 alternative

I am considering a few rogue R2 spots for church. We have a FOH truss about 25 feet from downstage and a truss about 20 feet above midstage.

I have read good things about the R2 but I am worried the beams will not be large enough with our short through.

How much larger are the beams with the frost filter on?

Would I be better off with the intimidator 455z or 140sr that have zoom but less output?

We have limited budget so I want something that can also do a decent wash but I dont know how the frost looks on the R2 spot.

Are you sure you want a spot for an FOH fixture? The R1, R2, and now the R3 wash all feature a very large zoom range.

Yes I do plan to get a few R2 washes for FOH when we can. My main concern is will the lack of zoom be a deal breaker for me from the midstage truss with only a 20' throw.

Ah, gotcha. On the mid stage if they primarily be be used to to create effects, and beams/gobos, for a more contemporary music service I think they work great. I have used them upstage for this in churches with less trim height. We were not worried about using the spots as a "back wash" because we also hung some static Led pars for this purpose.

Cool. Thanks for the info. My plan is to mount a static wash for the backdrop and use the midstage spots to project gobos on the stage and backdrop. We already have a good conventional front wash and some LED backdrop wash fixtures but I will need to add more.
