Front of house software

I have searched through the threads and have found a lot of online services for front of house management of tickets and the like. I was wondering if there were any stand alone software programs the people used to manage and sell tickets out of there box offices. Something that you pay an initial fee for the software and then just own it and run it locally.

Do you run credit cards or need to support online ticket sales?

If so, you'll probably be stuck with pay-as-you-go.

Everything we run is cash or check only. The school does not want us to use credit cards

Not what you're looking for, but if you aren't using cards then seatyourself.biz is free.

There are a lot of ticketing options out there that are web based. Most of which you can set to be box office sales only then you can control the payment type. I think you would find that the cost of any program to do that would be cost prohibitive however compared to a well formatted excel sheet and the classic tear away red tickets. Also, the sell can be that you can make more money for the school by accepting credit card payments, most ticketing companies handle digital payments for you and then send you a check for your balance.... I can't see how that's different or how a school would turn down more money...

Who does the money go to? Doe sit NEED to go to the school or can it go to a booster club? The booster club can accept the cash / check and charges. For the school where I volunteer, the musical & theatre budget came from the booster clubs (musical was combined from the Chorus/Orchestra/Band/Theatre Boosters & plays from the Theatre boosters). The respective board members used Square for charges to go directly to the theatre booster club's account for plays/musicals and wrote checks over to the other booster clubs when necessary. Also, the booster's used Square to collect donations from concessions, any general donations, and club dues from the students. The dues covered T Shirts, cost of music, associated trips, etc ... The dues were not required for class, just for the club and extracurricular (Arts are poorly funded here)

We found that when we started accepting CCs we received more in donations and had a higher advance ticket sell volume. Local rules and actual mileage my vary.
