Yep! We are actually going this year!

I will be there with City Theatrical! One of my favorite shows.

Working the FCS booth! Come check us out!

I'll be there!

I will be there with NORCOSTCO in Booth # 2316. We are a full theatrical supplier offering costume rental, makeup and a full Technical Sales Division. We'll also be in Mobile the weekend before for SETC in Booth # 306. If you come to SETC, check out my workshop on Black Lights and effects, as we explore the new LED technologies and cover the basics of how to make the effects POP on stage.

Yes indeed-y... I will be walking the show on Saturday, and hosting events at Chauvet HQ on Thursday & Friday.
Looking forward to seeing you all.

Do you think a 19 year old should go to USITT? I have been working around lights and feel that it would be a worthy investment of my time, I just want to make sure that it is really something I should be doing.

The short answer is absolutely you should go if you can afford it. Formal education is a basis, but you can also learn plenty from the professionals who have experience to share. Pick out the workshops that interest you and learn. The exhibit floor is also a grand experience, as most major manufacturers will be showing their wares. This lets you see first hand all the tools we play with. We are in a very interesting time in lighting these days as we pioneer this new world of LED. New innovations are being introduced at an amazing rate. You will have an opportunity to see everything that is available today. Lastly, this gives you the opportunity to NETWORK and meet people. Don't be shy. If you have been "working around lights" as you say, you may or may not have found your career path yet. Keep an open mind and explore all opportunities. And have some fun while you are there.

19 is a little early. Go if you can afford it, but If budgets are tight, I advise you to wait for at least your Jr year. While there are lots of educational options that are good for you anytime, there are some amazing opportunities for career networking and getting a job that you are too early for now. If you can only go once, definitely wait until you are about to graduate from college. If you can afford it, go every year!

I'd say go - by all means if you can swing it. And try to attend as many session sin your areas of interest as possible. Some will be dull, some will be fantastic. You'll come away with a lot of new knowledge. Lost of colleges recruiting and employers as well.

I’ll be there! Still need to book a room though! Sigh.. not enough hours in the day! Might end up beach bumming it

Re: Georgeous
I began going as a freshman in college I would definitely recommend going!!! Yes yes yes! To see all the things you can learn, the colleges you can attend, career paths ahead of you. Ideas you’ve never thought of! Don’t be intimidated by the vendors they would love to talk with you! They sell theater stuff for a reason and are a wealth of knowledge! Who knows where a conversation and some nice swag may lead. The designer showcases of students not too much older gives you aim and oh the networking... just start talking to the person next to you before or after a session, obviously If they’re at that session you have similar interests to talk about or at lunch, find a group of other students to pal around with. There is a reason 5500 people went to this last year. If you can afford it, GO! Find a roomie. See if a school near you are driving down or have an extra bed to save costs.
Good luck! And have fun!

I had just turned twenty when I attended my first one, and was very glad I went. Now I was in my late forties when I attended my next (and last) one, but that's another story.

I always find this is a great so to be hands on. Not a bunch of used car salesmen hawking their wares. We will be projection mapping live on the booth as well as hands on with the the Consoles. Avolites Booth 917.
