Hello -
I have a small collection of Series 200 moving heads for hobby purposes only. I have a MiniArtisan2, but no PowerMac and ADAM to store and recall cues.

As an alternative, I would consider switching to a DMX control desk and run cues via the Vari*Lite DMX200 interface.

I know this gear is ancient and hard to find in working order these days.

Please get in touch if you have any of this gear as surplus or can point me in the right direction.

I have been looking around for a DMX200 interface with no luck. Can you tell me the part number of the lamp (bulb) that is used in the VL2C.
I know they stopped making the 600 watt *6100 kelvin bulb. I was wondering if you know where to find a spare lamp. I have purchased one VL2C for hobby purposes like you did. If i find a lead for any DMX200 interface units I will let you know. Do you have a rack or MiniRack to connect them to a system. I know the MiniArtisan is a console and is used with a Mac to store cues. What does the ADAM DO?
I am Chris Cotter and if you look I have been posting many wanted posts to try and find a DMX200 interface for several months now. If you have any info, diagrams, PDF files I would be most thankful if you could give me copies. If I find a source of any of the old items we are looking for i will relay them to you as well. I have been reverse engineering the VL2C and have found out a few things. The light seems to have a built in ballast and has aan automatic line voltage selection but normally recieves 220VAC applied to its multi cunductor connector.
The other 4 wires are transmit and recieve pairs. As the light uses 2 way com to operate. The light recieves its operating system from the console or DMX200 upon bootup of the system. There are 2 test eproms stored on one of the internal boards that can be moved to active sockets to test the light without a controller. The Thumbwheel would select the type of test depending on the number dialed in. Normally the thumbwheel switches are used to set the address of the light. I have a service manual and a Quick guide for the VL2C. I also have the PDF file on the DMX200 interface. If you need any of the PDF files let me know. Can you tell me what racks you have. If i can not find a DMX200 unit I would be willing to sell my VL2C. My email is [email protected] feel free to write me. Thanks - Chris Cotter

Note that this is a helpful post I'm about to write, but this post was from 2014. Not too sure this single post account is going to get back to you.

I still get alerts. I had forgotten about this post until I received an alert from Chris above. I was able to get him the gear he was after.
