After appreciably more than forty years, Stratford's Alec Cooper is finally retiring from having pushed the LX 'Go button' since before LX consoles had 'Go buttons' to be pushed. To my knowledge, IA357's brother Alec Cooper was running Stratford's Avon Theatre's Strand system LC's saturable core dimmers in the early 1970's prior to moving to the Festival's main stage to operate their Strand IDM-Q before it was upgraded to a Strand MMS, Modular Memory System and later a Strand Light Palette followed by something from AVAB.
More than forty years with the same rotating repertory company is a good long run by anybody's standards.
Congratulations Alec, wish I could be there to attend your retirement.
Toodleoo!

It is always nice to hear that there are those who can actually retire from this field.

[soapbox] Even if you are a new freelance technician, or not working for a company who offers a retirement package, make sure to start saving as soon as you can. Don't wait until you are "settled" as you will have to end up contributing a lot more or retire a lot later. [/soapbox]
