What is this light?

I have an option to pick up a lot of these moving lights from an auction. I won't be able to visit the site before the auction ends and the picture is small enough that I can't tell exactly what light this is.
So anyone in the hive mind know off the top of their head what the light could be? Auction ends in 13 hours but not sure if I want to bid or not unless i know what the light is!

Yup, they're MAC600 Washes. If they've been well maintained, they may last a year. If they haven't been maintained, they may last a month or a week or a day. They were falling going out of favor years ago. Only get them if you're willing to buy lots of parts and work on them a lot.

They are beasts I’ll tell ya that. They work good when they do. They are a pita to replace stuff. Like soundlight said ask a lot of questions about how they were maintained.

Where in Davenport are you buying used gear? My son just bought a house in Davenport. He works for the Mouse as a Dan.

Unless you're getting a really good deal, I would look at moving or even stationary LED's instead.

Old arc-based fixtures usually have heat sensor and optical sensor issues. Sometimes ballast issues. A PCB fries and the light is not worth repairing. Old wiring harnesses that have lived a good life can have tiny breaks in the wires that are difficult to troubleshoot. If they don't come with omega clamps you can expect to pay a pretty penny for those unless you find a good used source.

It's a fun science experiment but overall probably more trouble than it's worth. Lots of hidden costs if you want to get them working reliably enough to use in production and then be able to keep them working for any period of time. Also need more power cables on hand and circuits to drive them with than if you do LED's. The experiment can get out of the cage pretty quickly if you let it. Know that before you buy.

Buying from the mouse. Their vendor auction has some of these. I'm looking to keep maybe 4 of them, the rest I would probably put up for sale myself. Depends on how high the bidding goes, so far it's cheap enough to be worth it, even if some of them don't work, but if it goes much higher won't be worth it for me.
Thanks everyone!

Cast Connections or elsewhere? Does the auction have a website? For the record, I don't want movers, but it never hurts to look.

Vendor Dept (attached to Property Control, which is in turn attached to Cast Connection) There is a website but you have to be an approved Disney Vendor to signup I think.

They do have lots of other items, I actually purchase for a theater in Texas on occasion, shipping is sometimes more than the auction though :)

I was assuming he meant a Dapper Dan, one of the roaming performers at the Magic Kingdom.
A former roommate of mine performed with them for a bit. While I was working at Epcot I also worked with the Voices of Liberty and a few of them were Dan's also.

I'll be down in 2 weeks. I would love to buy you a beer.

How does one become a vendor?

PM me when you get in the area :D

In my case I used to work for the mouse in Entertainment, when I started my AV install work I talked to some people about how to get in as a Vendor. Some paperwork and a few weeks and I was listed, the Mouse hasn't used me yet but I am listed as an approved vendor on property.

That's one of my retirement goals...

...and I'll definitely PM you. Can always use a beer drinking buddy.
