New OffStageJobs.com rules

As recently announced and now mandatory, all job postings to OffStageJobs.com must include a numerical pay rate.

“OffStageJobs.com began operating under a new rule May 1st, requiring all job listings posted on or after May 1st to include pay rate, starting pay rate, potential pay range, or state that there was NO PAY for the job. "Based on Experience," "Contact for Details," "Competitive," etc... are no longer sufficient. A numerical pay rate must be posted unless the job does not pay.

This rule was announced in advance on the @OffStageJobs Twitter account, and was (and is) posted on our home page, jobs page, terms-of-use, and the job posting form itself.

OffStageJobs.com will begin enforcement of this rule after 6pm EDT tonight, May 7, 2018, removing listings posted on or after May 1st that do not include a pay rate. Notifications have been sent to employers who have listings currently in violation of this rule, but after 6pm tonight, we will remove listings violating this rule without notice.”

Drives me up the wall in this industry how people get offended when you ask how much money it pays. I've had jobs fly me across the country for interviews and not even tell me a ball park number.... This is a big deal. It will also go a long way to deal with the pay gap as well. Also I just realized when checking that my post had the wrong hourly rate, so fixed that too!

The new rule about pay rate is great but I find the new suspension rule to be worthy of conversation too...

> SUSPENSIONS:
In an admittedly late attempt to address reoccurring harassment and abuse problems at theatres and venues, we are introducing temporary suspensions as of 2018. Suspensions apply only to companies/institutions, and specifically for companies/institutions which have been found to have allowed abusers of fellow employees or guests to continue to be employed after being informed of the abuse. A suspension shall be given in lieu of a ban if the company appears to be taking steps to rectify the problems that allowed the abuse and abuser to continue.
Suspensions shall last for a period of no less than 3 years, the with the effective 3 year start date being the date the abuser's employment with the company ends, or the date of suspension, whichever is later.

Also curious how he’s gonna enforce it. Like do people send him emails of bad venues. Does he just go off reviews from Glassdoor and indeed.

I like the idea of the suspension policy, but enforcing it sounds very challenging.

There’s been a couple of very high profile cases here in Chicago, not to mention the Guthrie.

I would think, *hope* he’s going with anything easily verified. As we all know, there are those certain venues where a pattern of abuse has long been an open secret in their local community.

Want me to ask him?

Blue man group was another repeat offender on some of those things.

I'm hopeful the people posting keep posting because they need the help and I'm hoping having to actually post pay (which they should be doing) doesnt make them move to posting elsewhere to avoid having to do it.
