Play Blu-Ray with Monitor

I'm looking for a solution to have professional Blu-Ray playback. We have a projector and regular blu-ray player however I want to add a hdmi switch to be able to switch between the blu-ray player and a computer we have. I also want to have a monitor to be able to see the source before sending it to the projector. Right now, everything is connected via HDMI.

My initial thought was to have a BlackMagic Atem (the small rackmount one) that have a incorporated screen for preview but also can be connected to an external screen. I would be able to see everything. My concern is that the Blu-Ray send HDCP protection and it will , most likely, get blacked out. I don't want to use a PC to play Blu-Ray, I really want a stand-alone player.

One idea I had was to put a Blackmagic converted HDMI->SDI between the blu-ray player and the atem. Not sure if that would remove protection.

What is your setup to project a Blu-Ray movie on the screen?

Thanks!

The Blackmagic converter will not work. As SDI does not support HDCP and that converter is HDCP compliant, your signal would end there. There are some HDMI-SDI converters which are not compliant that might work.

There are switchers that will pass HDCP and have a preview, but they do cost a lot more. However, if you are looking to preview the Blu-ray, then you should be looking at a HDMI splitter (similar to this) to go between the switcher and the player. That would allow you to cue up your Blu-ray before sending it to the projector.
