DMX over dimmer wiring

Good point but doesn't Lumentalk only allow DMX control of their fixtures over the powerline? I don't think you can get DMX out at the end of the powerline. I also thought there were some timing issues. Still, it shows possibilities.

You would have to be some sort of Dale Carnegie protege to convince me that the technical, reliability and code-compliance issues you would have to hurdle to make this work are easier than running shielded Cat6 from the booth to the stage and then distributing accordingly -- even if that involved penetrating the roof and running it outside of the building.

And, there are wireless options. m

I've seen some kind of lighting signal sent out over building AC wiring while the wiring is being used for power. A guy about 70 years old or so did this in his art studio. It may be an old protocol or something he made up. The guy had a van with 600K miles, and he just kept doing all the repairs himself. He is also a talented painter, tells the wildest stories, and programs but refuses to use code libraries because that's too easy or something like that.

Maybe it was the same protocol (X10) that SteveB mentioned.
