Stagehand dies while setting up for Coachella Festival

Fall protection may be cumbersome, but that is no reason to not use it.

The article in the Desert Sun says that he had been with the festival from the start 20 years ago and was their lead rigger.

It’s tragic. He had many many friends in our industry. Out of respect for his family and his memory let’s wait until the actual facts are released on what happened, and not let conjecture guide us. And when those facts are released, let us learn from them to improve ourselves and our industry, not use them to throw shade at each other.

Regardless of the 'how' it's still a tragic incident and we all hope to not read of such things in the future.

Nobody should die for someone elses good time.

Rest In Peace... tragic. And shocking. I worked with a gentleman this weekend who fell about 25 feet a couple of years ago. The fall ruptured his spleen and he had so much internal bleeding he almost died. Now he is much more strict about safety. Easy to take for granted familiar operations. I’m sorry for everyone’s loss. Family, friends, industry.
Weird, my cousin went to Coachella this year. Wonder if he heard about this.

Safety is fashionable, be safe out there y’all.
