Single Strobe Flash - Studio Spot 575

Folks, I'm not very experienced with programming moving lights. I have the basics: intensity, pan, tilt, iris, edge, color, pattern; using an ETC Element for control.

What I want to do is create a single strobe flash at full intensity as an effect that I can include in several cues - regardless of pan/tilt/iris/etc.

I've created effects with the Element before, so have an idea of where to go and what to do.

Instrument: Studio Spot 575 by High End Systems

Here's what I'm not sure of:
  1. The type of effect to build
  2. The parameters to include
  3. The settings for those parameters

Cue 1 to put the fixture where you want it cue 2 strobe your shutter channel.

Manual if you haven’t read it.

So I'm not sure how the Element's effects system works, but this is really just a simple chase.
Cue (or step) 1 [Spot 575] (intensity) @ full ( 0 up/ 0 down time)
Auto follow time: .04 s
Cue (or step) 2 [Spot 575] (intensity) @ 0% (0 up/ 0 down time)

Adjust that follow time til the flash looks right. Make sure no other attributes (only intensity!) are recorded in the effect, so you can use it when the light is in other positions.

I would shy away from using the built in strobe settings as it can be tricky getting the fixture to do just one flash.

Thanks for the thoughts so far. Thank you for the manual reference!

It looks like either solution is a chase (stepwise) effect, though an absolute type could apply.
Intensity:
  1. Step Time: (default calculated), Time: 0, Dwell: 0.04s~, Level: FL
  2. Step Time: (default calculated), Time: 0, Dwell: 0, Level: Out
  3. Run one cycle
Shutter:
  1. Param: Shutter, Step Time (default), Time: 0, Dwell: 0.04s~, Level: 255 (100)
  2. Param: Shutter, Step Time (default), Time: 0, Dwell: 0, Level: 0 (0)
I'll try them tonight!
