What the...fog?

Interesting system. I don’t know how that would stop someone. As they could just wait for the fog to disappear after 15 mins.

If they didn’t get scared from the initial burst.

To my knowledge these were originally developed for applications like banks or convenience stores. You want to signal the cops, lock down the teller area, and most importantly give a teller time to get out of the way of a gun.

They may be of questionable value in home burglaries, but they have a well-founded concept for commercial businesses. Not sure how many places actually use this though. Banks would rather just hand over the money with the dye packs and let you get out of the building to avoid a hostage situation rather than agitate you with a Rube Goldberg theft deterrent system that's a couple steps up from throwing a bunch of banana peels on the floor and hoping the guy slips and hits his head.

I wonder how many non-theatre people inclined towards robbery would see the fog and think it was some sort of poison or sedative gas... possibly inspired by too many mediocre movies/TV shows.

At the very least, it would cause a little confusion and might make it somewhat harder to see any items of value worth grabbing during their hasty retreat.
