custom truss shapes-process?

Hi gang,

Another one from the department of weird department.

I have a potential situation upcoming where having multiple large truss letters might be a thing. I've used lots and lots of truss, but I've never been on the end of specifying/designing custom ones. I'm curious about the process.

If I reached out to one of the major truss manufacturers with "I'd like a 20' tall "G"that can be picked from these specific places on the letter and needs to support the following load" would I experience any success? Or is this into the world of working directly with an engineer and submitting drawings directly to the shop? There's plenty unclear to me about where this will go and I suspect I'll have a conversation or two with Thomas or Tyler as it develops, but I'm curious what experiences others might have had.

Thanks!

For the right amount of money, you can get anything built. This sounds like the kind of thing I think ZFX would consider doing.

I guess it depends on how the truss manufactures deal with individual clients vs. dealers, but I have had of custom designs made by Extreme Structures and Fabrication(XSF), including stamped engineering documents. I'm sure they can help, and if they require you go through a dealer that they will recommend one nearby.
