What Material Is This

Anyone know anyone working on Family Feud? Trying to figure out what this material is at the top of the podium. It looks black when not illuminated (right podium), but glows cool white when illuminated (left podium). Consistent light, no hot spots, but maybe gets dimmer/bluer at the corners. Is this a smoked plexi? 1 way mirror type thing? Also its bent at a tight radius in the corners. Any Ideas?

I would guess it's 1 1/'2 lexan and the source is towards the center and has that white frost in front of it. It looks black beacuase it's video, the same for the 'even-ness.'

I agree with Lexan, I've done a handful of podiums or desks that illuminate like this, typically for illumination we used LED tape and sanded the interior face to serve as the frost and keep the shine of the outside edge. I would bet that whole thing might be a slab with the lights being on the upstage edge, a lot of material to light through (and depending on what the sides facing the contestants look like) would contribute to the dark look when its not illuminated.

It could actually be a dark gray Lexan (polycarbonate) without camera dynamic range effects. The Philips iColor player is made of that and has an interior indicator LED that corresponds to the first light, if sending DMX in 8-bit mode. A dark surface for attaching the LED's could also contribute to the dark effect.

Thanks for the link.
This website is an incredible example that a company can make something great but have such a terrible website, I wonder how they are able to sell anything!
I'm thinking lately of the vari-lite website since they're part of phillips, the site is atrocious.
