Is there something wrong here?

Looks like this would be a little unweildy to handle! Doubt it came from the factory this way.

That's the OneNdone. by Singular industries. You hang it once, and never again
You don't see many of them around these days, as we are now expected to aim the lights at the actors rather than
aim the actors at the lights.

Wow! that's a trifecta! A rare modernish 50's style antique looking badly designed lighting fixture, and a bad concept of protection of the wiring.

First heat travels up... I am not seeing vent holes or hood on the top. Must be a North Korea designed fixture. it's certainly not bench focusing a BTL in design.

Second is obviously where the cord grip is and the type AC (BX) conduit coming out of it.

Third is the seemingly, home owner grade (not commercial grade) Edison plug attached to the conduit.

Thou there is the modern concept of the clutch cam and the interesting concept at the center of the yoke so as to mount.. something in needing a wider plate for it = extra labor and materials to do so.

Evidence says it did come out of the factory this way. Have you seen one or is this a late April Fools joke?

The fixture is an Electro Controls 3466 6" fresnel. They did know what they were doing RE venting despite the deceptive photo. Actually, it is one of my favorite fresnels.... made like a tank and pretty good
photometrics at that. And yes, that circular plate at the top of the yoke is from the factory as well. They were part of an extensive EC installation at the Univ. of Houston I worked with in the mid 1970's, which included the famous Parellipsphere ellipsoidal and the ILS memory lighting console. Will never forget the 500 pound "portable" 6-dimmer packs on wheels with 3-phase transformers in them!
It was a distributed dimming system with these monsters on catwalks and around the perimeter of the stage.

It did not come from the factory with the BX. No sir, original was 42" (x3) of glorious asbestos covered wires in three colors. Read the cut sheet under Electrical.
