Macro keyboard software?

So I bought one of these a couple weeks ago to drive Qlab -- and I still can't use it because it came with no macro-programming software, and no link to, and the auction has no link, and ("US SELLER" aside), the Chinglish-speaking seller has no clue and has to ask the manufacturer...

Anybody got one of these, and the relevant software I can gank a copy of?

When you really wanted a StreamDeck...

Well, a penny saved is dollars spent in frustration. What's your time worth, Jay? If you spend more than a couple hours on this, you're cheating yourself.

How does show up in System Profiler, I’d imagine a brand would be given or something to google at least. Does it type characters in text edit? What happens if you plug it into a PC instead of a Mac?

Yeah; my home PC is what doesn't really say; hadn't though to go looking when I had it in the shop on the Mac; I'll try that.

Here is a video with something similar, and some links in the video description:

Here is also a similar product on Aliexpress with some links to software: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803825313003.html

Good luck!

Have you tried assigning a hotkey and just pressing a button on the pad and see what gets captured? It's a software-based approach instead of a hardware-based approach. qLab's native hotkey programming should work, either in a cue or settings.

If you want more generic automation control, the likes of Keyboard Maestro or BetterTouchTool should be able to get you where you're going.

Noted in this thread in one of my other replies, the 10 Keys send the 10 numeric keys one through zero.

Even if I thought it was practical to attempt to catch those keys and remap them, it's not something I would want to do, as it breaks the user interface very badly if you're using it on the actual keyboard.

I want to reprogram the 10 keys on the miniature keyboard in exactly the fashion the seller said I could. And if I can't, I will fold the keyboard until it is all sharp corners ...

Thanks, though.

Oh missed that sorry. The x-keys software might be worth a shot https://xkeys.com/software/. If I remember correctly you need to program from a windows computer to write to the onboard memory of the macro pad.

Keyboard Masetro may be able to bind to the specific usb device press, not just generically the numpad key. That’s just a theoretical possibility, I have no specific experience to back that up.

There are a number of approaches to doing this that might be useful, sure.

But for my purposes here, being able to implement the one that the vendor advertised is the only one that will keep me from returning it, and trying something else. I did, after all, choose to *buy* this device, and not some other device...

Find a similar listing on Aliexpress. Most of those will have a link to software. The software might work, or infect your system. Good luck!

Possibly a long shot, but did you check to see if this is a USB composite device that shows up as both a keyboard and a flash drive? I've seen that on a couple things where that was the method for including their special software.

I didn't look, but I didn't see anything pop up when I plugged it in. Certainly not on Windows, but not on my Mac, I think, either...
