Does anyone have a recommendation for a video monitor that would be good to replicate the concept of a moving portrait?
This is for an Halloween immersive experience we are building.

How large are you looking to go? Do you need to worry about blacks? Are you looking for more of a budget monitor?

Hello! This is intended to replicate a large painted portrait so im looking at a 65” that I can turn vertical (but im not married to that exact size).

Yes, Blacks are key. Budget is very good.

Spitballing again... but before I spent any money, I'd experiment with just about any cheap TV but purchase various cloth swatches Go on amazon and look for black gauze, and or black tulle. Can try either surface applying to the monitor itself, or if you have a really good non glare monitor, could video the subject behind the "scrim" Could also try a lightly frosted vinyl window film.
They may help you kill any surface shine, but also give the effect some depth and canvas texture. I also would force your video feed just slightly out of focus. Too crisp will just look like video. Sounds like fun

Black Rosco rear screen material is another option if you don't require an exceptionally wide viewing angle.
Toodleoo!
