Sorry to hear this, his book I rembering reading while hours waiting for a delivery. Well founded theories to read.

Joel was from Cleveland and worked at Cain Park Theatre a few years before I did. I received my first training in the lighting biz there from his successor. He had quite a reputation at Cleveland Heights High and at the Park. Theatrical Lighting Practice is one of my stand-bys..

And, not least of all, he was a good friend and mentor.

Wat Steve said. I was fortunate enough to work for Joel for a year. A giant in the industry, and a strong promoter of USITT. I will miss him ( even if he did like mustard on his French fries)

Thank you, Professor Rubin, for your lifetime of contributions to your craft.

But.... Mustard? That raises the Respect-o-Meter another notch! You are missed, sir.

This past year I was at the funural of a friend of mine and co-worker Ken Burns JR. Or JR as he was called in the touring industry. Tales similar the above mustard were also shared during it. Helps to humize and personalize such people we knew but didn't some about making them unique. I admit I never looked into JR's interest in something called "Blue Dog" he was interested in.

I'm also tasked with making a mini "ghost light" for him to live on his work box. TBA project coming up I will share for those interested in for similar purposes. Posting for ideas in new topic so as not to cloud this one.
