2x6 or 2x8

Building a 8’ wide by 6’ deep riser for a new FOH mix position. Looking for opinions on whether to use 2x6s or 2x8s for the joists. I plan to deck it with 3/4” ply.

Supported just at corners? I'm sure the 2 x 6 would not fail but general rule of thumb is 1" to 1' of span.
