Being that the position is union, then the pay is determined by collective bargaining. While the pay may not be what some of us might find to be reasonable, that discussion is not to be had here.

Pretty sure any time a job posting comes up the first thing discussed is pay. I’m also amazed.

I think it's fair to say that our discussion of it here will have not change the bargaining agreement, but I don't think it's fair to say that feedback/discussion about a published wage should not be had. Looking for a Master Rate electrician with video experience in one of the highest CoL areas in the country for that rate underlines how poorly some theaters are paying, and the union contract does not seem to be doing much to help.

It's forbidden to discuss what's a livable wage here on CB? Amazing.
Pretty sure @Ruin meant "here" in this thread, not "here" on ControlBooth. Feel free to start a new thread, in the appropriate forum, discussing anything you want. (Except secks, that's still verboten.)

Is this a new general CB prohibition against thread hijacking? I don't see how this is different from so many threads that have wandered far from the original post.
I think the sentiment is that this is the classified ad of a potential employer. If you wish to discuss "Insufficient salaries being offered at major theatre companies in the PNW" it would be best to start a thread in General discussions.
And personally, I agree, I believe Thread Hijacking has gone mightily unenforced as of late. Perhaps more moderators should clamp down on that.

I must agree some as I just look at new posts and don't have any sense of what forum. CB Classified isn't really a discussion forum like other threads. Perhaps posting to then should be restricted to the OP, and anyone can start a conversation with OP who can then post additional relevant information. Or else a separate area, not in discussion forums and not showing up as "new posts".

Ok. I am relatively the new guy here, but I've been moderating computer mediated communication fora for about 30 years. And my opinion is that 'is offered wage X realistic for a market' isn't a "hijack".

It's probably not all that *polite*, given that we're in the Classifieds board, but ...

Yes, if there is a desire to have a discussion regarding pay, let's move it to its own discussion. We require that employers post the pay rate. If you don't like it, don't apply for the job.
