One of my friends got some æsro (Cheap chinese) moving heads and we're having some trouble programming a profile for it. it's eloquently named a "575 spot move head" or it might be a "move head 575". If anyone knows the ins and outs of this creature can you drop me a line?

p.s. it looks like an hmi bulb.

@Krawford, what console will you be using to attempt control of this luminaire? Did/does/can the manufacturer or seller provide a "DMX map", or list of channels and what each function is? Without this information, there's little anyone can do to assist you.

Yeah no luck with a dmx map, if had that I could whip up a profile pretty quick on the little chamsys that I'm playing with. He got them in a deal second hand and they have a little spec sheet but they don't lay out the channel usage. I've been looking around the internet in an ever broadening search and found these:

which look right except the encoder buttons are different and the sticker is different (the sticker on the ones I'm playing with read æsro)

and this one:

which has the right buttons and pan/tilt at least....

I'll probably try it tommorow, but for now..... sleep.....

A lot of those are probably the exact same fixture or close to it. They are cranked out a dime a dozen and then some non-existent company's name is put on them. My boss bought what sounds like a similar unit years back - its sticker reads "FTY". Basically made to look like a Martin Mac 700 but much cheaper. I can tell from moving it around by hand that the stepper motors are a lot lower resolution. Truthfully, we haven't even attempted to turn it on nor do we have any documentation on the unit. It does say "Move Head 575" with kind of a crosshair graphic. It also instructs you to be careful handling the "high pressure lamp" and to adjust it by "tuming the adjustment screws [sic]".

The second link states that the fixture exhibits "perfect porksmanship". That's funny.

And honestly, I'd just build a profile. Hook it up to a simple controller to see what everything does and go from there with MagicQ.

That's what I'm playing with we just couldn't get the lamp to strike so we could only find the pan/tilt panf/tiltf and prism, I'm going to try a fresh bulb next time I go at it. Thanks for the response guys!

Often the Control Channel must be at some specific level AND another channel must have a change too (all CMY flags at full or zero, dimmer or strobe at 00, and so on). On the fixture's menu, perhaps under [config] or [setup], see if there's a DMX lamp on [DMX L ON] or [AUTO L ON] or somesuch. Interactions between channels make finding all the functions of a given automated luminaire nearly impossible. If only the light had RDM... Or maybe it does, who knows?
