Any computer folks please help. I've been using an HD24 for the past two years. I know it's slow but I have been using FTP transfure to place tracks in my laptop for editing. I have not had any problems loggin in while I'm at the FOH area. I moved my laptop top to my office and tried to log on to the HD24 and get a message that says "connected, waiting for welcome message" followed by "connection failed".

I'm on the same network at the school using same ip address and password. Contacted the IT people and they said "hummmmm, don't know why."

    Any ideas?

Possibly a port issue on their server? Were you on the same server / network when you had it hooked up at FOH? Did you try all of the usual trouble shooting stuff like replacing the cable, rebooting the laptop and power cycling the HD 24?

Using the network connection on the HD 24 is awful. It is well worth the 199 dollars or so for the fireport, you take you removable drive, add the adaptor on the back plug it into firewire use the application and move the files. BUT I recommend that you NOT move the files to another firewire drive on the same connection as the Fireport pretty much takes the whole firewire connection.
It really makes the whole HD24 much much more workable
