Anyone know how to program this?

Hey guys,

This light panel is in the rack at my new job and it controls all our house lights. It also controls our shell lights. The shell is 3 hung sections that flip from vertical to horizontal to make the roof. Pretty standard.

However all the lights are on one fader and occasionally we use just two panels for a concert. thus sometimes we have a panel vertical, turned on, and pointing at a scrim. Kinda a fire hazard. Anyone know how to use it or its product name so I can get a manual?

TLDR: programming syntax? Or whats the company/model.

Its ETC. I'd say lack of programming and custom labels suggests no theatre consultant (and I donxt mean a dealer or rep "offering" consulting) but the custom buttons above dont fit that notion.

Figure out what you want to do what and call etc tech support.

The software is ETCs light manager iirc but without you taking training, i dont think they will share it. Any authorized ETC tech has it.

Depending on how it is setup, you may be able to bring up levels on a separate console and use the record button to store new presets.

Additionally/alternatively, I'd investigate adding gravity switches to the shell that prevent the lights from turning on when the shell is in storage position. Better than relying on everyone to be cognizant of the shell location.

The lower section is almost obvious. A "snapshot" is a capture of DMX levels. Set levels on the board, hit record and see the preset buttons flash. Hit one to record the levels to, and the buttons stop flashing. Repeat as desired.

It's likely that several presets can be used at once, submaster style. Note also that it will record any current levels no matter the DMX source so you can snapshot from other preset combinations or whatever. The other buttons you probably don't want to change without serious planning. And it will take a specialist, so get to know your local ETC dealer.

We can't tell from the picture which master brain you have. They've been made for 15 or so years, and you may not have the web interface @Swanstreet mentions. If you do then recording can be done there as well as a few other minor adjustments.

I am seeing custom labels on the Houselights panel... I was just in a venue with a nearly identical panel, including the lit orange buttons for worklights - Schuler Shook was the consultant on that one.

The lower button/fader stations are ETC panels with a custom faceplate: https://www.etcconnect.com/Products.../Control-Stations/Fader-Station/Features.aspx

There should be an ETC job number on your dimmer rack or auxiliary lighting equipment rack/architectural control processor. Call ETC, reference the job number, and they should be able to recommend a service tech that can assist with the programming.

A bit of a pain but have you tried unplugging the unused panel?

Temporary solution of course until you can get a rep to sort you out.

Knowing the patching of the shell lighting and being able to address those independently is probably the challenge.

I see I missed the custom labels at first glance.

I've never found Unison/Paradigm sliders to be as intuitive as sliders on architectural controls were in an analog world of many years ago. The whole last action takes precedence thing seems confusing. Perhaps that has evolved but I've become comfortable with leaving faders it consoles and touch screen stations, occasionally a local work light where it is the only level adjustment for that zone.

Thanks for the reply.

So as far as the snapshots go, we did exactly what you suggested and it did not work. We brought up each shell one by one, hit record, and clicked on preset buttons. Nothing was recorded. Hence my post. I just figured I was using it wrong, but what you described is exactly what we did.

Presets can exclude loads.

There was likey some choice to keep the shell out of the presets, probably predicting how the system would be used. To change that will require a field technician. Sometime the original tech will leave their name and contact on the system. Try to find the 'job information' in the processor menus. Or call tech support! They probably have system drawings and names of the tech, dealer, consultant...

A dealer can also sell you some replacement fader knobs.

The red buttons are straight on off.

These are stage panels that control dimmers. My first question is where is the dimmer racks and processor and power breakers. Any lables on those dimmer rack. send pctures.

Is there a lightning console (brand pics). How many entry stations (pics)

Is there any other panels or entry stations.

To program try hit take control, position upper sliders to set a look. on preset panel push (maybe hold) record and at same time press preset 1. you may need to take the preset slider up and down to complete the recoerd step.

To get more info send pictures of the dimmer rack, breakers, and brain box usually mounted near or in dimmer rack.

Definitely a ETC System. Not sure of what it is exactly but it looks like a Legacy Unison Fader Station or a IES console. Without a product number/serial it's almost impossible to know. Unscrew it from the rack and take a gander!

Also call ETC, if you give them your venue name they usually can pull up the system from their end and walk you through it.

Cheers!
