Artnet Wifi Control

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has recommendations in terms of wifi routers which would be compatible with Artnet IP address ranges of 2.x.x.x? I am currently using obsidian onyx using artnet and unfortunately it restricts the IP range to 2.x.x.x. Intention is to have a wired network for DMX control and use wifi for the Onyx remote and potentially over artnet for some simpler setups. I have tried a few of my routers I have at home but unfortunately they will not let me set the IP to that range. Any insights would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately, 2.x.x.x is a public address range, and so any router than connects to the internet is going to get very upset at using that range. If you're air-gapped from the internet, then in theory you don't need a router, just a WAP on to your local network and a DHCP server to dole out addresses. Not sure which kit will allow you to use that range.

As a side note, the current beta of Onyx removes that restriction on IP address. It's due to be public in April.

Thanks for the side note - In this case I wont go out and look for any specific kit to cater for the 2.x.x.x address side of things and wait until the public release. Appreciate the info
