Colloquial term for a line of Twist-Lock power connectors made by Hubbell, Leviton, Legrand/Pass & Seymour and others. Model numbers have the prefix "CS", one would assume for "Califronia Style", although no one has has yet to offer a plausible etymology.

All are rated for 50A, in 120V, 120/240V (pictured above), and 208V versions. Contrary to popular belief, there is no 120/208VAC 3Ø Wye connection version. The "spike" in the center of the female is a "locator pin", not a contact, and carries no current. Some older models weren't designed with the "spike." Usually female connectors without the spike are compatible with male connectors of either variety.
The 120/240V 3P+G (3P4W) is most often used for small dimmer packs and AV distros.
The 208V 3P+G (3P4W) is most often found on hoist controllers and is the default for http://www.skjonberg.com/manual.html .
