Casino Scene Lighting

I'm the lighting designer for a relatively new musical called "Disaster!" To summarize it takes place on a ship with casino, in which most of the action happens. I need to make it look like a 1970s casino with a minimalistic set. I've envisioned thus far a lot of primary red, green, and blue beams coming overhead through a nice haze. On the front a amberish wash (R02 most likely). If I can get one in time, I might have a mirror ball hang. Does anyone have any other input on how to make this scene look good and from the time period?

Definitely light the mirror ball from two sides, two opposite angles in two contrasting colors.
Toodleoo!

For inspiration, search for images from Peppermill Las Vegas, as I'm sure many LDI attendees can affirm.
