changes to Rosco Sure Hinge

Just got in a big batch of Rosco Sure Hinges and noticed several difference from prior ones:

  • lack of score line for snapping the hinge in half to be 3/4" wide
  • manufacturer stamp says "rosco" rather than "rosco laboratories"
  • larger barrel size
  • no burrs on screw holes
  • rougher cut edges
It's the score line that's giving us fits. We use oodles of these on 1" box steel. My guess is Rosco has changed factories. Bummer.

I talked to two suppliers, both of whom were unaware. The score line is in the product description, so suppliers are now inadvertently advertising falsely.

Don't bother rushing to BMI - I just bought them out of their stock of old ones.

Interesting. They must have made a change in manufacturer or equipment because they recently also dropped almost all of their tradition flat hardware.

For what it's worth, thinges we have like that are all stamped JR CLANCY.

USITT always has a ROSCO users group. If no answers are had till then, I'll make sure the hardware issue comes up!
