A multi-pole circuit breaker where a fault on one pole causes all poles to open, thereby disconnecting all ungrounded conductors fed by the device. Common uses include devices used on three-phase circuits, or 208V single-phase circuits where both circuit conductors are ungrounded.
The common-trip function can either be internal to the circuit breaker, or via a "handle tie" mechanism identified for the purpose.
