Collapsable bed

Any ideas on how to make a breakaway bed? For example, the bed collapses when an actor sits on it? It also has to be repeatable, I don't want to have to buy 4 beds and cut almost all the way through them.

Does it have to support any weight before it breaks? Or can it just fall thru? If it's as simple as the first person that sits on it breaks it, cut all the way through, put in some hidden hinges with pins that pull out (to replace the breakaway dowels for each show) so that the two halves don't go in complete separate directions, and put a replaceable breakaway dowel in each side of the frame each night.
