I have a few 4pin goose neck console lights that all use the standard 12v 5w halogen bulbs (BLB242). Does anyone know of an LED replacement bulb that I can use for these?
There are replacement bulbs, but they don't dim. So if you don't mind it going from dimmable to just on/off, then yes. Otherwise you need a whole new fixture to go to LED and still have the same functionality.
I made the mistake of buying a Hosa LEDconsole lamp and it was too feeble. Getting much light out of an LED in a very compact space is challenging due to inadequate heat dissapation. It probably makes more sense to use halogen and carry a spare.
We have a LEDconsole light on our x32. I really like it. It's dimmable - at the higher levels it uses a white and a red led, and when you dim it below about 70% it only turns on the red led. Not sure of the brand, I'll look next time.
