Today, ControlBooth.com is Ten Years Old, a staggering 3,652 days. Over 18,000 members who have posted over 275,000 times in 31,000 threads and added to over 3,000 wiki entries. You know what those stats mean? It means there is a dedicated community of passionate people who love technical theatre and who want to learn, to help, to ask, to mentor, to commune.
ControlBooth was originally created to serve as a reference for students, a place where they could go to solve a problem, but gradually took on a more inclusive feel, as more and more pro’s joined ControlBooth to be a part of this remarkable community. ControlBooth is unique in that the community has set its own high standards through the diligence of members making sure that the advice given is accurate and safe. ControlBooth is blessed by the caliber of its membership, including members who literally helped develop the DMX512 standard, helped develop the ETCP certification programs, and are experts in virtually every field of technical theatre, from lighting and rigging to safety and management.
ControlBooth also is blessed to have the support and recognition of many of the industry’s best manufacturers and distributors. Manufacturers who have recognized ControlBooth both as a place where their customers go for support, and a place where they can make an investment in their current and future clientele.
ControlBooth has grown, out of its membership, a solid two team staff. First, our Senior Team, [user]DerekLeffew[/user], [user]Gafftaper[/user], and [user]Footer[/user], who are the Guardians of the Community, making sure the owner, [user]dvsDave[/user], doesn’t do anything too crazy with ControlBooth, and they also manage the second staff group, our amazing group of volunteer moderators, the CB Mods. The CB Mods are [user]cdub260[/user], [user]Chris15[/user], [user]DaveySimps[/user], [user]Grog12[/user], [user]icewolf08[/user], [user]museav[/user], [user]philhaney[/user], [user]ruinexplorer[/user], and [user]Van[/user]. These guys each moderate sections of the forum, making sure the conversations stay on topic, civil, and do their best to keep the spammers from intruding.
I would be remiss if, on the 10 Year Anniversary, I didn’t mention our Senior Team Emeritus, those members who have retired, but have made a huge impact upon ControlBooth previously. First of all, [user]Ship[/user], who was our first serious pro on the site and who helped define what CB could be from the start, then [user]Wolf825[/user] and [user]Mayhem[/user], who along with Ship, made up the original Senior Team. These guys defined what the community would come to be, giving generously of their time and talents.
However, ControlBooth wouldn’t be much at all without You, the Community. So, on the day of this milestone, we’d like to know what ControlBooth means to each one of you. Help us make the past 10 years of ControlBooth into the first of many decades to come.
