1. Electrical. Flexible, long cylindrical mechanism used to aid in the transmission of electrical power. Extension cord, lamp cord. Usually synonymous with cable. If on an appliance or luminaire, the whip or tails.

2. Rigging. Sash cord. Or decorative: drape cord and tassel.

3. Costumes/upholstery. Cording. Larger than piping, wrapping fabric around a circular core and sewing both wrong sides together into a seam. Or appliquéing rope to the surface of the fabric.

4. HVAC: A measure of firewood having a volume equivalent to 4'x4'x8' = 128 cubic feet
