Countryman E6 boom coating

I have some E6 mics where the tan coating on the boom has entirely come off. The silver underneath is somewhat distracting: is there a reasonable way to cover it, such as tan heat shrink tubing? Has anyone done this?

Before I finished reading your post I was thinking heat shrink. Beyond that, maybe contact Countryman to see if they have any suggestions and/or an acceptable service plan.
