DIY Truss Sleeve?

Anyone want to share their experience with stitching stretch truss sleeves? I have the equipment and labor. In the past, I've wrapped and clipped, but I'd sure like something faster and more permanent. I have the time to make them. I just don't have the funds.

Material choice?
Stitch / serge choice?

Thanks,
Kevin (At Blinn)

I generally use party knit from Rosebrand. It takes light well, stretches enough for the purpose and is Flame Retardant. You have to add extra foot to the length of the cover for every 5 feet of truss. I caution you not to just buy fabric somewhere make sure you use flame retardant fabric. It's not just a good idea most places you go it's the law.

Yes we generally just serge the edges together. We dont use fasteners we discussed Velcro but we tend to use them as disposable. We cut holes in them to run cables and Velcro would up the cost and time per sock.
