2a. Verb. To release an object, subjecting it to the force of gravity.
2b. Noun. Mechanism to achieve the above: "balloon drop," "confetti drop," "Kabuki drop," (also see drop box); "NYC Times Square NYE Ball drop."

3. Gaming parlance. Noun. Total amount wagered by patrons: "We didn't make any money on the box office for the Wayne Newton show, but the casino drop was up over $100,000."
