Microphones Durable, mid range lav mic recommendation?

This is for a film teacher friend of mine. His studio uses wired mics, but the daily wear and tear is rough on their actual lav mics. Without breaking the bank, and knowing that there will always be heavy usage with teenagers, would anyone have a particular mic they'd recommend? Heavy duty cable?

How big is your bank? That statement is meaningless. Lavalier type microphones are considered consumables . Have a look at Microphone Madness.
