Elation Platinum Spot 5r

I'm having a hell of a time trying to fix an Elation Platinum Spot 5r. everything works fine for boot up, smooth pan, smooth tilt. When I take control with the console, the pan movement jerks and i have no control over it. any idea what would cause this?

What console are you using? Is the light patched correctly? Is your setup just the light and the console or is it part of a system? If it's part of a system, is it terminated? Is your cable bad?

It will do it in the auto program as well. I'm thinking I have a bad optical sensor
