ESTA Opens Standard for Luminaire Inspection for Public Review

ESTA released this week a proposed draft of BSR E1.32 - 201x, Guide for the Inspection of Entertainment Industry Luminaires.

This document provides guidance in the inspection of stage and studio luminaires used in the entertainment industry to evaluate their safety and any needed maintenance. The information contained in this document is intended to supplement the information contained in manufacturers’ maintenance instructions.

The public has until October 26th of this year to file their comments with ESTA regarding the proposed standard and the details therein. You can download a PDF of the draft, the review form, and view other standards open for public review at ESTA's website.

Whether or not you see yourself commenting on this, the document is an interesting read regarding maintenance of lighting fixtures and provides a comprehensive point-by-point checklist for inspecting them.
