Is it possible to create an underlying cue on an Ion that continues throughout a show, and create other cues on top of it.

Example: I am wanting a beacon effect to run all throughout a show on 1 fixture, but do not want to have to add the effect to every single cue throughout the show.

This is the default behaviour for Ion. If you add an effect to a cue it will track through all subsequent cues until it encounters a cue that tells it to stop.

That said, if somebody changed the user settings from Tracking Mode to to Cue Only Mode then the record action would need to be modified using the QOnly/Track button before entering the command.

    There are several options.
PARK the channel on. It will not record into your cues.
PLAYBACK OR SUBMASTER is another place you can put the effect or channel. Slider for intensity, bump for effect.

You can also run a second cue list on a playback.

Yes there are so many ways to do this easily. Tracking it though is the obvious choice if you want to keep it simple to run (hey just press go on one cue stack).

The effect submaster is also seriously easy both to program and operate. Then again so is the other cue stack.

Personally if you are trying to figure the console out, try all 3, because all 3 are important basic operations on the console you'll want to be familiar with.
