I think you are talking about displaying the DMX in "raw" values rather than percentages. However the DMX values are the same either way, so you haven't lost any function.

Some consoles will let you display the raw values, but I don't believe SF does. So some minor translation will help. 50% of 256 is 128 so if your DMX chart lists a function or color at 128 then they mean 50%. After a while it will become automatic, but a short cut sheet can help.

Just a note that the SmartFade does output and "think" 0-255, but only displays 0-100.
