Also referred to as a TV or Studio flat, this style of flat construction started on the West coast in the Hollywood movie studios. Hollywood flat construction differs from flat, Broadway construction in that the framing members of the flat, typically 1 X 3 are attached perpendicular to the facing material. Many people choose to cover Hollywood flats with a thin Plywood commonly referred to as Lauan or door skin.
