If you are going into technical direction or want to work for the large scene shops learning this software is a must. The fact you not longer have to use the outdated copy in the theatre departments design lab is huge.
 
Little side note: Autodesk's software lineup is going to become more accessible post-college for freelancers. They're beginning to offer license rentals for monthly or annual terms. Still not an insignificant investment, but you can pay for a license when you have work on the books and not pay for a license when you don't.

You can get AutoCAD LT for $45/month, or Revit LT Suite (Revit LT + AutoCAD LT) for $50/month.

FYI, beginning early next year (Jan or Feb?), you will not be able to purchase any perpetual, non-expiring licenses from Autodesk. Everything will be on the recurring license model. Gotta keep paying the piper to continue using the software.
