Good point Brian - learn how to check things with a miltimeter and then add in the specialist checkers or build them yourself once you know how they work and can afford them.

This way, if you get stuck somewhere without such a tester or need an adaptor, or whatever the scenarion, you will always be able to use a multimeter.

I also still belive that a good screwdriver will serve you much better that the screwdriver on a multitool. If it means that I have to climb down from a ladder to get the right tool, then I will do it. However, I tend to think what I may need before climbing the ladder and take the necessary tools with me.
