Consonants (as 'f', 's', 'z', or 'th' in both 'thin' and 'then') developed by directing air through a narrow channel made by placing two articulators close together, such as the lower lips against the teeth, the tongue against the roof of the mouth. See also plosive, sibilance, and other speech anomalies about which the audio engineer should be aware.
