Floor mics don't have to be used on the floor. The can be on top of railings, on tables, in planters, on vertical posts near head height, and on the bottom of set ceilings (like the 'inner below'). Like everyone else said, get the actors blocked around the mics, and make sure that each actor's mouth has a clear line of sight to the mic (one actor talking into the back of another actor's head will not work).
